Federal Way Airport Taxi & Shuttle Service https://airporttaxifederalway.com Mon, 17 Feb 2020 19:10:24 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=5.9.3 GET TREATED LIKE ROYALTY – IF YOU CAN PAY THE PRICE https://airporttaxifederalway.com/get-treated-like-royalty-if-you-can-pay-the-price/ Wed, 16 Oct 2019 10:08:48 +0000 http://airporttaximaplevalley.com/?p=1509 The Seattle Times has an article on VIP treatment for those with deep wallets – For $2,500 extra, you can beat the airport lines.

These services include:

Last week, IdeaWorks issued a fascinating report, “VIP for a Fee,” which describes the various VIP services airlines offer at airports. The services often include airport curbside-to-plane personal escorts, priority check-in and even fripperies, such as being driven to the airplane by limousine. (By the way, that usually requires the fancy-pants passenger to climb steep stairs from the tarmac to the airplane.)

Jay Sorensen, president of IdeaWorks, said this marketing was “a way for an airline to reach deeper into the pockets of people who are willing to pay more for a higher level of service.” Those people are typically high-spending travelers who are not beholden to strict company travel and preferred-airline policies, “a small portion of the marketplace,” Sorensen said.

He said VIP services that used to be provided quietly are now being openly marketed because: “Airlines are realizing that they can actually sell this. And we’re going to see more and more of that, because it works.”

But the author of the Seattle Times article feels it is adding to class stratification approaching Medieval levels, going on to say:

To me, this highlights a disconcerting trend toward imposing almost-medieval degrees of social stratification on air travel. This trend can be most easily witnessed in that absurd routine you see at airport boarding gates, where the agent invites premium and elite passengers to board along a blue or red carpet and then quickly closes that lane off with a rope and directs the nonprivileged to walk on a gray-carpeted lane next to it.

PORT OF SEATTLE RECOGNIZES FLY QUIET AWARD WINNERS AT FEDERAL WAY AIRPORT https://airporttaxifederalway.com/port-of-seattle-recognizes-fly-quiet-award-winners-at-federal-way-airport/ Wed, 16 Oct 2019 09:59:21 +0000 http://airporttaximaplevalley.com/?p=1500

Three airlines were honored by the Port of seattle Commission today as winners of the 2012 Fly Quiet Awards for their efforts in 2011 at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Alaska, Virgin America and SkyWest Airlines were honored for their strong commitment to noise reduction.
These awards highlight what can be accomplished when an airport and airline work together on noise reduction.

FLY QUIET BRAVO AWARD – ALASKA AIRLINES

Awarded to the quietest airline among the top five carriers at Sea-Tac.
Alaska has replaced their older MD80s with newer Boeing 737s, creating a quieter fleet of aircraft. Alaska has also been a key partner with the Port and the FAA to pioneer the Greener Skies Initiative which is developing quieter and more fuel efficient approaches set to be implemented by 2013.

FLY QUIET AWARD – VIRGIN AMERICA

Awarded to the quietest airline among all other carriers at Sea-Tac.
Virgin America has a full fleet of newer Airbus A320 and A319 aircraft and consistently excels in adhering to noise abatement flight procedures.

FLY QUIET REGIONAL AIRLINE AWARD – SKYWEST AIRLINES

Awarded to the quietest airline among all regional carriers at Sea-Tac.
SkyWest wins for the third year in a row and is a prime example of airline commitment to noise reduction. The very quiet fleet of Canadair Regional Jets (CRJs) benefit their score as well as excellence in adhering to Sea-Tac flight procedures.

MORE ON FLY QUIET

The Fly Quiet incentive program was designed to honor airlines that work to reduce the impacts of jet noise on the region. Evaluations include measuring each airline on its compliance with noise abatement flight paths, overall noise level of its operations and compliance for testing engines on the ground.
